This water colour piece was done for my good friend ~rdedominicis as a long overdue gift for many reasons. Incidentally the timing of me doing this coincided with his birthday (which is today considering it's after midnight) so it can also be considered a birthday gift as well.
Rich has a collection of incredible paintings by great artists. One of his recent themes is the Guardian Angel, a female figure with wings and swords. So that's the basis of the concept for this one. Initially I was thinking I would conceptualize this according to Western mythology and cultural aspects. However I thought that would be too obvious so I instead chose to do something based on Eastern cultures. So I've had only to glance at my Subcontinental roots and went for that. And I'm glad I did. |
